Psychological Assessments

PSYCHOLOGICAL  AND NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

Psychological Assessment (sometimes referred to as Psychological Testing) is an evidence-based method of obtaining information to answer a specific referral question(s) in the areas of social functioning, cognitive abilities, and existence of co-morbid psychological disorders. The goal is to help identify a diagnosis, clarify a previous diagnosis, and develop a personalized treatment plan. Psychological Assessment includes: intelligence testing (IQ), personality testing, achievement testing, learning disorders, visual and auditory processing, behavioral disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and mood disorders (i.e., depression, anxiety, bipolar).

Neurosychological Assessment (sometimes referred to as Neuropsychological Testing) is an evidence-based method that can help those who have received a head injury, concussion, struggle with memory loss, or have difficulties concentrating. Testing can help provide an individual with an overall picture of how well one’s brain is functioning such as the ability to remember, reason, concentrate, or solve problems. There are many kinds of neuropsychological tests used to help diagnose an individual with ADHD, dementia, concussion, short-term or long-term memory deficits, visual and auditory processing deficits, or other organically based psychological issues.

Group Therapy Culver City CA

GROUP THERAPY

In Group Therapy a therapist works with multiple individuals at the same time. Group sessions are generally about 90 minutes.

Group Therapy members benefit by working through personal issues in a supportive, confidential environment and by helping other to work through theirs

You can participate in your own way at your own pace, but it is generally helpful to share your own thoughts, feelings and experiences, and to take an active interest in other members. The group therapist will usually encourage your participation, and comment on interactions and relationships in the group sessions. If you find something difficult or unpleasant in a group session you should do your best to talk openly about it in group, because working through these challenges is a big part of the group therapy process.

Some of the benefits to Group Therapy include:

  • Exploring issues in a social context more accurately reflects real life
  • An opportunity to observe and reflect on your own and other’s social skills
  • An opportunity to benefit both through active participation and through observation
  • An opportunity to give and receive immediate feedback about concerns, issues, and problems affecting one’s life
